IWICATALOG - Frames: Technical
This frame is used to describe the technical part of a frame.
Main characteristics
Former: to indicate the availability of a template that can be used on a grinder to fit the lens into the frame
Temple length: length measured from the axis of the hinge screw to the end of the leg
Effective frame diameter: effective diameter of the frame (twice the longest radius measured from the boxing center to the bottom of the circle sucker). For nylor or pierced frames, the ends of the glass are used for this measurement.
Pantoscopic angle: angle measured from the side of the frame between the face and the temples with the temples in open position
Frame’s angle: angle between the plane of the front face of the frame and the plane of the shape of the right lens, or the shape of the left lens. The angle of the face shape as positive
Frame processing instructions: commentary for assembly laboratories (e.g. information on heating plastics). This is a multi-criteria list for information about temperatures, solvents, assembly.
Spare parts available: yes/no. Informs whether or not spare parts are available for the frame.
Characteristics related to the lens
Power: optional and available value to fill in only for preassembled frame.
Sun specific characteristics
Lens ID: code allowing to identify the lens furnished by the for afocal sunglasses
Lens base curve: nominal curve of the lens surface
Lens description: description of the lens color
Lens CEN category: category of lenses mounted on the frame
Lens restriction: restrictions on the use of mounted lenses (no restriction, not recommended for driving at night, not recommended for driving)
Filtration type of the lens: to indicate the type of filtration of the lens (photosensitive lens, polarizing lens, gradient lens, uniform tinted lens, photosensitive and polarizing, other)
Material of the lens: to indicate the material of the lens (acetate, mineral, undefined or other)
Characteristics related to the lens
Rxable: indicate that the frame can be mounted at sight
Type of edge to cut on lens: type of cutting of the lens slice
Lens width: distance between vertical sides in boxing value
Lens height: vertical distance between the horizontal tangents to the suckers of the frame. For nylor or pierced frames, the ends of the lens are used for this measurement.
Drageoir width: data specific to nylor assemblies
Drageoir height: data specific to nylor assemblies
Distance between lenses: distance between the two calibers in boxing
